SUSAN HADLEY's favorite roles in the MMDG repertory were the original Second Woman in Dido and Aeneas, and Gloria, Marble Halls, New Love Song Waltzes, and Championship Wrestling. Prior to joining the Dance Group, she performed in Senta Driver's company (Harry Dance Company) and in Meredith Monk's opera Quarry. After retiring from the company, she served as Rehearsal Director for Mikhail Baryshnikov's White Oak Dance Project, Morris's The Office for Živili Dance Company, and four tours of Platée, including with the Royal Opera and New York City Opera. Susan choreographed for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Repertory Dance Theatre, American Repertory Ballet, BalletMet Columbus, Ballet Pacifica, Ballet Memphis, and OSUDance. One of her 5 works for BalletMet, Across the Field, joined 57 performers from BalletMet and OSUDance with the Ohio State University Marching Band. For 30 years, she served as Professor and Chair in the Department of Dance at The Ohio State University, where she received three university awards for distinguished teaching, as well as the President and Provost’s Award for Distinguished Faculty Service. Retired in 2020, Susan is now farming with her extended family in southeastern Ohio.
