Luthien Brackett

Luthien Brackett
LUTHIEN BRACKETT (mezzo-soprano or alto) was born in California and named after the character of the elf princess Lùthien Tinùviel in J.R.R. Tolkien's legendarium. Praised by the press for her “lushness and delicacy,” and “silky tone among all registers,” her most recent solo appearances include the role of Anima (“the soul”) in Hildegard Von Bingen’s Ordo Virtutum with Seraphic Fire (Miami), Rachmaninoff’s All-Night Vigil with Skylark (Boston), Vivaldi’s Gloria for the York Early Music Festival (UK), J. S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion with the Yorkshire Bach Soloists and Yorkshire Bach Choir (UK), and Brahms’ Love Song Waltzes with the Mark Morris Dance Group for Lincoln Center’s Mostly Mozart Festival 2018. Among her numerous commercial recordings are four Grammy-nominated albums, including The Clarion Choir’s Alexander Kastalsky: Memory Eternal, a 2019 nominee for Best Choral Performance. She appeared with The Clarion Choir and covered the roles of Juno and Ino in the English Concert’s 2019 international tour of Handel’s Semele. She divides her time between the United States and her home in England, where she has appeared with I Fagiolini in their production of Monteverdi’s Orfeo at the York Early Music Festival and LSO St. Luke’s in London, and with The Monteverdi Choir in Berlioz’s Benvenuto Cellini at the BBC Proms. www.LuthienBrackett.com
