BioKARA CHAN grew up in Vancouver, Canada where she received her dance training at Pro Arte Centre. Well-versed in both classical and modern genres, Chan has performed repertory by José Limón, Jerome Robbins, Lar Lubovitch, Merce Cunningham, and Murray Louis. She received her BFA from The Juilliard School in 2015, and while she still a student, made her professional debut at the Joyce Theater with the Lar Lubovitch Dance Company. Since graduation, Chan has worked with the Merce Cunningham Trust, Larry Keigwin, Kathryn Posin, Daniel Gwirtzman, Janis Brenner & Dancers, Gleich Dances, MorDance, and Trainor Dance. Notable venues in which she has performed include Lincoln Center, Park Avenue Armory, Guggenheim Museum, Joe's Pub, Battery Dance Festival among others.
