Alexander Dobson
British-Canadian baritone Alexander Dobson is renowned on opera and concert stages for his artistry. His portrayal of Wozzeck with Théâtre du Nouveau Monde and Orchestre Métropolitain du Grande Montréal was praised by Journal Voir as a “gripping embodiment of Wozzeck.”

Alexander has sung the title role in Don Giovanni with Orchestre Metropolitain de Montreal, as well as “Masetto” in the same work with Calgary Opera. Other notable roles include “Guillaume” in the French version of Così fan tutte with Opera Lafayette, “The Count” in The Marriage of Figaro with Against the Grain, “Marcello” in La Bohème with Pacific Opera Victoria, and “Maximilian” in Bernstein’s Candide with Calgary Opera. In summer 2015, Dobson sings the role of “Polyphemus” in Handel’s Acis and Galatea with conductor Nicholas McGegan and the Mark Morris Dance Group.

On the concert stage, Alexander has recently appeared with Orchestre Métropolitain for Mahler’s Songs of a Wayfayer, as “Christus” in Bach’s St. Matthew Passion, and the Philadelphia Orchestra and Orchestre Symphonique de Laval for Handel’s Messiah.

As a dedicated recital artist, his recent performances of Schubert’s Winterreise and Schumann’s Dichterliebe were highly acclaimed in New York, Montréal, Toronto, Victoria, England, and Paris.
