ELISA CLARK, an award-winning artist, educator, and administrator from the Washington, DC area, trained at the Maryland Youth Ballet before receiving a B.F.A. from The Juilliard School under Benjamin Harkarvy. She first performed with the Mark Morris Dance Group in 2005 and danced full-time with the company through 2011, during which time she won a Princess Grace Award. Since 2011, she’s continued to be involved both on and off stage with MMDG. Clark was a founding member of Robert Battle’s Battleworks Dance Company, where she also served as Company Manager, and was also a member of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Lar Lubovitch Dance Company, Monica Bill Barnes & Company, and performed with Nederlands Dans Theater and the Metropolitan Opera in works by Jirí Kylián and Crystal Pite, respectively. She has been on the faculty at the School at Jacob’s Pillow, Princeton University, University of the Arts, the Ailey School, Marymount Manhattan College, American Dance Festival, and at Bard College in partnership with the Gibney Company. Additionally, Clark has taught company class for the Mark Morris Dance Group, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey II, Ballet Hispánico, and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, in addition to being a répétiteur/restager for Battle and Morris works.
